Privacy policy
Last updated 13 August 2026
The short version: we ask for your birth details only because a personal muhurat cannot be calculated without them, we do not sell them to anyone, and you can have them deleted by sending one email.
This policy explains how Waytoindia Web Dynamics (Sole Proprietorship, proprietor Pooja Sharma), which runs https://muhuratguru.com, handles your information. It is written to meet the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the Information Technology Act, 2000 with the rules made under it.
1. What we collect
When you simply read the site
- The occasion, city, month and year you search for.
- Standard technical information your browser sends: page visited, approximate location from the network address, browser type, and the page you arrived from.
When you create an account
- Your name and email address.
- Your phone number, if you give it.
- Your saved searches and any date reminders you set.
Birth details, for a personal muhurat
To check dates against your own chart, or to compute an exact muhurat window, we need your date of birth, time of birth and place of birth. For a wedding we may need these for both people, because classical rules test the pair, not one person.
We treat these as sensitive. They are used for one purpose only: performing the calculation you asked for and showing you the result. We do not use them for advertising, we do not build profiles from them, and we do not sell or rent them to anybody.
When you pay
The payment is handled by our payment gateway. We receive a payment reference, the amount, the date and whether it succeeded. We never receive your card number, CVV, UPI PIN or net banking password, and we could not store them even if we wanted to.
2. Why we need each thing
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| Occasion, city, month | The panchanga differs by place and date. Without these there is no answer. |
| Email address | To send your report, your reminders, and to let you sign in. |
| Date, time and place of birth | The classical personal tests, such as Tara Bala and Chandra Bala, are computed from the birth star and sign. Without the birth details there is nothing to test against. |
| Payment reference | To match a payment to a report, and to process a refund if one is due. |
| Technical logs | To keep the site working, and to detect abuse. |
3. Your consent
We ask for birth details only at the point where you request a personal result, and we tell you why on that screen. Giving them is your choice. You can use the free date listings without giving any birth details at all. You may withdraw your consent at any time by writing to grievance@muhuratguru.com; we then delete the details, and personal results stop being available.
4. Who we share with
We share only with the services needed to run the site, and only what they need:
- Payment gateway — to take your payment and process refunds. It receives your name, email and the amount. It does not receive your birth details.
- Email service — to deliver your report and reminders. It receives your email address and the message.
- Hosting provider — our servers, where the data is stored.
- Analytics — to count visits and see which pages are used. This works on aggregate site usage, not on your birth details.
We also disclose information if a law, a court, or a lawful government request requires it. We do not sell your data to anybody, in any circumstance.
5. Where it is stored, and for how long
- Data is stored on servers located in India.
- Account details are kept while your account is open.
- Birth details are kept while your account is open, so that you do not have to enter them again, and are deleted when you ask, or when the account is closed.
- Payment records are kept for eight years, because tax law requires it. These are records of the transaction, not your birth details.
- Technical logs are kept for up to 12 months.
6. How it is protected
- The whole site runs over an encrypted connection (HTTPS).
- Passwords are stored one-way, so nobody, including us, can read them.
- Access to the database is restricted to those who need it to run the service.
No system is perfectly secure. If a breach ever affects your data, we will inform you and the Data Protection Board as the law requires.
7. Your rights
You may, at any time:
- ask what we hold about you, and get a copy;
- have anything wrong corrected;
- have your birth details, or your whole account, deleted;
- withdraw consent you gave earlier;
- complain to us, and then to the Data Protection Board of India.
Send any of these to grievance@muhuratguru.com. We reply within two working days and act within 30 days.
8. Cookies
We use a small number of cookies: one to keep you signed in, one to remember your language choice, and analytics cookies to count visits. You can block cookies in your browser settings, but you will not be able to stay signed in.
9. Children
The site is not meant for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly create accounts for children. A parent may give a child’s birth details for occasions such as a naming or first-tonsure ceremony; those details are the parent’s to correct or delete on the same terms as their own.
10. Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. If a change is significant, we will email account holders.
